Job Control Language (JCL)

Description

This course describes the use of MVS JCL and JES3 in a practical environment

For students to be able to use JCL immediately following the course, it will need to be tailored to suit the environment and standards of the client

• Systems Analysts.
• Application Programmers.
• Operators

Pre-requisites:

• Some familiarity with IBM Mainframe characteristics

Objectives:

Upon successful completion of the course the student should be able to:

• Code all the JCL and JES3 statements require to run typical programs.
• Recognise all JCL parameters and sub-parameters.
• Identify and correct basic JCL errors
• Code and Modify Procedures

• Introduction
• JOB statement
• JES3 statements
• Exec statement
• DD statement
• Special JCL statements
• Generation Data Groups
• Catalogued procedures

Duration:

2 - 3 Days depending on student's experience, course content and practicals required.
